Week 37/2025
Der Wind bläst

Ghost
So far, the transistion process from Substack to Ghost went rather well, as far as I can tell. Last week, however, I stumbled across some kind of an issue. I believe that the link to the second podcast I tried to recommend was not sent to everybody (whyever, it's properly embedded in the post). So here's a second attempt:
Apart from this, everything Ghost-related looks good to me; but if you have any issues or comments, I would really love to hear from you!
NSFW (Nikolaus' Song For the Week)
This week's NSFW comes from a duo called Kompromat. Facebook tells me that it's "a neo-post punk project calling to pray on the dance floor". I have no idea what that means but I like the song (and their sound).
It's also on YouTube
and Linktree has more resources from/on them.
I didn't find a concert in Austria Vienna soon, but they will play in Brno on October 22.
Retrospect
NIS2 and Freedom of Information
Due to a hack in the Austrian ministry of the interior, I allowed myself to remind the public that Austria has not yet transposed the NIS-2 Directive into national law yet. This is unfortunate as the very idea of this directive is to increase information security and security awareness, also - and in particular - in public administration. My remark made it into OE1-Mittagsjournal,
but neither is more information on the attac vectors known (to me) nor is there any other political activity visible although several ministries have obviously become targets of information warfare. ORF.at, VOL.at, Vienna.at (in an automated English translation) reported on this on September 1st as well.
On the same day the Austrian Freedom of Information Act came into force. There was a short report on this in ZIB 2 I was allowed to contribute to which I did from a friend's home office.

Prospect
Autumn is getting closer slowly so that first events are coming.

#arsboni

LLP
On Wednesday, September 10th, at 19.00, we will hopefully stream episode 11.
Look and Feel
Genie 3
I digged deeper into Machine Learning Street Talk and found a recent episode on Google's world model Genie 3 that is called "the most mind-blowing technology he has ever seen" by the host, Tim Scarfe.
Here's a product video of Genie 3.
Both, the model and the talk are very, very relevant and interesting - also when it comes how research in this very dynamic field looks like.
And here's a longer Google Deep Mind talk (don't expect too many critical questions, therefore) with the people behind this fascinating technology.
#leavinghannover
Evereytime I come to Hannover I get sentimental how beautiful it is here. Different from all the prejudices people have against the city this is one of the most liveable places I know and some of the nicest people I know live here. I spent a few days there and met, of course, many friends, visited the LexICT-offices

had a picknick with beautiful music close to Wilhelm Busch museum thanks to the open air concert of Chopin Society Hannover,

had some walks and runs alongside Leine

visited the Lindener Schützenfest and saw people learning how to drink Lüttje Lage, taught by a "Bruchmeister"

and travelled to Timmendorfer Strand later where I am staying for another two days when finishing this post.

It's a very German experience here (every conversation risks to end in an educational lesson, you never know whether people are always that rude or whether you did someting wrong, appeals to keep quiet and leave everything clean are everywhere, etc.) but I know all this from earlier times so that I am somehow sentimental. And late summer fits well here.

Red Noses Run
On Sunday, September 7th, I will particpate in Vienna's Red Noses Run in Prater. It's organised by a charity organisation(Rote Nasen) that provides clown visits to patients in hospitals. The event is very nice as it's not a race but more about having fun and doing something useful together. This is me last year:
Here's me two years ago.

Daisy
knows that printers are complex technical instruments with an inner life that need close inspection from time to time, in particular in autumn, when season starts.

Have a wonderful week!
Kind regards
