Week 30/2024

This is neither Ariane 6

nore Starship

nore is it about phalic symbolls or “funny”, “legal” dicussions among these two men

It’s just the Donauturm (“Danube Tower”) during a short run in the heat.

It will be very interesting to see how the new commission will set priorities here in autumn - in rockets and in social media. Is Europe politically, technically and legally prepared for an “excentric” billionaire now openly supporting Trump via his network(s)?

Ariane might not be the European success story to copy here.

NSFW (Nikolaus’ Song of the Week)

This week’s song gives credit to all those learning foreign languages and/or going to Italy at the moment. “Prisencolinensinainciusol”.

The lyrics are the perfect metaphor for modern communiccation, this is an excerpt

Uis de seim cius nau op de seim
Ol uait men in de colobos dai
Trr, ciak is e maind beghin de col
Bebi stei ye push yo oh
Uis de seim cius nau op de seim
Ol uoit men in de colobos dai
Not s de seim laikiu de promisdin
Iu nau in trabol lovgiai ciu gen
In do camo not cius no bai for lov so
Op op giast cam lau ue cam lov ai
Oping tu stei laik cius go mo men
Iu bicos tue men cold dobrei goris
Oh sandei

The fifty years old, still fresh song mimics how American English sounds to Italians. There’s a whole ( yet a little exhausting) German “Zeit Stiftung Bucerius” Podcast edition on the song

and YouTube has several versions of it, each of them being just great

One of the many modern cover-versions shows Italian dancer Roberto Bolle in Milano’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Retrospect

AI Act

The AI-act was - finally - published on July 12. It has the nice number 1689, 100 years ahead of the French Revolution, also referring to the Bill of Rights 1689.

State of the Judiciary in Austria

There are many reasons of concerrn about the status of Austria’s judiciary at the moment.

One of them is the report of the investigation commission chaired by Martin Kreutner that was presented this week,

Another one is the potential reform of Austria’s Code on Criminal Procedure that was covered intensely in #arsboni.

Remarkably, all three conversation partners were very clear in their assessment that the proposal is not only “not nice” orr “debatable”, but simply unconstitutional. Period.

The third edition of this discussion that I had planned forr needed to be postponed for personal reasons of my interview partner - but we will catch up on this conversation soon.

Prospect

The moment you are reading this I am already on my yearly bicycle tour - together with my son Felix.

This year, we start in Villach and go to Italy, somewhere to the sea, perhaps Jesolo or Venice or Grado or somewhere around. I have no #arsboni scheduled this week, therefore. But I do have my laptop with me (and plenty of music and podcasts and audiobooks).

Daisy

is attentive, yet sceptical, that humans prefer meetings outdoor these days.

Have a wonderful week - in Italy or wherever you are!

BTW: Azzuro was written by Paolo Conte, a lawyer doing something useful with his life.

And: In preparing this, I learned that there’s an asteroid named after Adriano Celentano.

And I think that’s beautiful.

Kind regards
