Week 14/2026
Don't make me sing
NSFW
This week's song is from a band having the funny name I am Kloot. It's called Avenue of Hope.
The album has a funny title (and design) too
The band split up in 2016, ten years ago. YouTube has a full concert with them too, from 2006, 20 years ago with a live version of the song
Retrospect
Criminal Procedures
The President of Vienna's Regional Criminal Court (Landesgericht für Strafsachen Wien), Friedrich Forsthuber, was interviewed by the Vienna Legal Literacy Project.
Femtech
Klaudia from the department gave an interview about femtech and data protection that is worth being read. This is an outcome of her very remarkable PHD-project and its funding by OEAW (see also Weekly 05/2026 on this).

Deepfakes and Social Media Addiction
Jetzt is an Austrian media startup following (somehow) the German example Krautreporter. I am a convinced subscriber of both.
This week, I had the opportunity to change roles from consumer to content provider, as Pia Miller-Aichholz interviewed me on deepfakes.

I was also interviewed for OE1-Mittagsjournal, commenting on a lawsuit against Meta and Google held liable in a case of social media addiction.
More on this case from BBC, The Guardian, Reuters.
Prospect
Legal Podcasting
Žiga from the department will lead through an event, cohosted by Juristenverband and the department, about legal podcasting on April 9th. The topic is very relevant as all universities struggle on how to properly address their students in times of social media, AI and noise everywhere.

I will be happy to join the panel and meet the other panelists.
- Mag. Dora Bertrandt (Paragraphinnen)
- Dr.in Theresa Kamp, LL.M. (Law & Beyond)
- PD Dr. Bernd Simon (Knowledge Markets)
Free entry, registration required, no stream.
Wiener Bluttage
Earlier that day, (April 9th) I will speak at an event for medical doctors: Wiener Bluttage 2026.

I am very much looking forward to learning from Univ.-Prof. Dr. Jens Meier, Kepler University Clinic and from Mag. Dr. Moritz Buchmann, ELGA GmbH.
Paid event, registration required, no stream.
Look and Feel
Alfred J Noll
I learned that Noll (see weekly 13/2026 for more on him) will be buried in an honorary grave of the city of Vienna.

Father, Mother, Sister, Brother
It was the first time since ages that I was in Cinema de France that throws you directly back into the 90ies. I was kindly invited by a dear friend to watch the latest Jim Jarmusch (another hero of my youth) film: Father, Mother, Sister, Brother. I liked it, in particular for all the things that are not said in the three episodes.
FM4, NDR, Falter (Paywall), Guardian, The New Yorker (Paywall) have reviews.
Worth a visit. Here's the trailer
Have a wonderful week and take care of yourself!
Kind regards
Nikolaus (Forgó)
