Week 12/2026

Happiness for everyone

Week 12/2026
Ooops (see Weekly 10/2026).

Thank you so very much for all the very kind get well wishes I received last week. I was released from the hospital, trying my best to recover and to come back to normal.

This week's song is, perhaps, a last salute to the winter and the north. It comes from Norwegian singer/songwriter Rebekka Bakken.

She's currently on tour and will be in Austria several times this year, f.e. in Weiz and in an open air in St. Pölten.

MOOC

One of the nicer experiences in my professional life is the possibility to collaborate with other Universities - internationally and regionally. HS-Prof. Mag. Dr. Evelyn Süss-Stepancik, Vice Rector for Academic and International Affairs at University of Applied Sciences Vienna adressed me a few months ago with the idea to produce a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on the AI act together. As I like both, MOOCs and this University, I was more than happy to join this endeavour. Dr. Christopher Hanzl and his team was aboard as well - and together we created an introduction into the AI Act from a University perspective:

KI-Campus has - as I learned just now - a similar course

with Dr. Till Klein as instructor.

Recht neugierig

The LLP did episode 25 (already!) of their Podcast this week and I had again the privilege to support this technically.

SOLACE

SOLACE, a European project aiming to foster lung cancer screening in Europe we are a proud part of had its final meeting in Vienna this week that I joined.

The venue was the Social Hub in Vienna Prater which is a nice place for such meetings.

Prospect

#arsboni

I have one session, a pecial edition that is part of a University course, next week, on Wednesday, at 17.00 CET, with an outstandingly interesting guest, in particular for people working at or around UNIVIE: Prof. Dr. Florian Möslein from Marburg University who is joining UNIVIE and our department later this spring.

We will speak about his career, his plans in Vienna and about the impact of digitalisation on the legal profession.

AI Day

On Thursday, I am scheduled for a presentation at the AI day of Austria's Anwaltsakademie.

The speaker ahead of me will be my former student Markus Dörfler - I am quite sure this will be fun.

I will speak, inter alia and in particular, about Anthropic's designation as a supply chain risk to America’s national security (first US company ever being affected by this) and the job impact of LLMs according to their recent study.

Look and Feel

AI

Misha Glenny delivered a very remarkable speech on AI, China and the US; absolutely worth listening!

Episodes

Prof. Dr. Guido Kucsko is without any doubt one of Austria's leading figures in IP Law, both in academia and in practice. But above all that, he is also a very remarkable and relevant artist who recently published a book, "Episodes", edited by Angela Stief.

The book is breathtakingly beautiful and touching and his website is really worth a visit too!

Have a wonderful week and take care of yourself!

Kind regards
