Week 07/2026
Box with many, many Daisy photos

NSFW

This week's song is is from Dota Kehr.

The video is another example of zero-budget Super-8 coarse-grained aesthetics

RBB has a long interview on her (difficult) relation with music industry standards.

They're currently on tour with many concerts in Germany (but none in Austria). Der Falter has a short text about her that informs more about her background as well.

Retrospect

#arsboni

Dr. Julia Möller-Klapperich from FU Berlin presented her draft directives on AI use in legal academic work.

I was quite impressed by the direct and well reflected approach she deals with the issues at stake and - different from many - doesn't only reflect the problems but works on solving them.

Media

Age verification in social media was still on the agenda (see for example in ORF). I was interviewed on a "European goldstandard" of age verification, supported by the European Commission for OE1 Mittagsjournal

and also in OE24.tv on the matter (Thursday afternoon, no link available [yet?]). I had never been in their facilities before (close to Secession) and appreciated to see another TV studio.

And here's my Saturday contribution on "Moltbot" (now, after several rebrandings: Openclaw) that I announced last week:

Prof. Dr. Alke Martens has a nice Insta-Reel summarizing the most important issues coming with this hype:

Prospekt

I'm taking a week off next week and will go skiing in Heiligenblut (at least during most parts of the week).

One of the funny details there will be, that I am invited to be the only interviewee on Tuesday at 13.00 CET in the OE1-radioshow "Punkt 1" and will need to do this remotely - I learned that there's no "ORF-Landesstudio" in Lienz - and Klagenfurt is two hours drive away. This is why I am currently writing funny emails to the local tourism office trying to find a (kind of) shared office for 1 hour. So, when hearing this, expect me sitting, with ski boots on, in some random "Tourismuszentrale" or a similar venue, trying to assure that the internet connections stays stable.

Topic will be X/Grok/Social media and all the "funny" phenomenons coming with Musk and the DSA.

I will also (technically) host the next episode of "Recht neugierig" with Prof. Dr. Florian Scholz-Berger on Wednesday, February 11th, at 19.00 CET.

Look and Feel

Sophie Hunger

Sophie Hunger received the "Rauritzer Literaturpreis" of the Rauritzer Literaturtage 2026 for "Walzer für niemand". That's a great opportunity to hear the corresponding song once again.

She's so unbelievably talented (and coming to Vienna on February 28 again!).

1-Star-Reviews

A funny way to learn that one is never good enough is to read 1-star-reviews. There's a whole book on this that I bought at Buchhandlung Riedl and read this week.

This is what is said about Hemingway:

Daisy

I received so many, many warm and positive and comforting messages during last week via all different channels; it was such a positive experience of empathy, understanding and support! Thank you so very much! You have helped all of us so very much in coping with this.

Please allow me to highlight one overwhelmingly nice gesture: I got a memory box as a present, containing printouts of all the Daisy photos ever published in this newsletter.

I have the box on my desk now, and will certainly keep it here for some time.

Although Daisy's passing has obviously been very sad, I can appreciate very much your friendliness and empathy when hearing about her death. This has made the sad experience much easier to tolerate. Thank you so very much, again.

Have a wonderful week and take care of yourself!

Kind regards
