Week 03/2024
Happy New Year!

Teneriffaa, close to Puerto Cruz. The volcano in the background is the Teide, Spain’s highest mountain
I hope that you were able to spend a relaxing Christmas Season! All the best for 2024, I hope that we can stay in touch!
This is what happened and what’s going to happen around me next week. It would be great to see you!
Retrospect
Teneriffe
I spent 10 days with my family on Teneriffe which was great. I wrote there, but I am still not finished with all the writing projects I should have closed in 2023 and there were some more incoming in this period. Apart from (not) writing, I did some sightseeing, a guided cave tour, whale watching, eating (Gofio! Papas arrugadas!) and running. It was a wonderful rest.

I started the new year with an interview of UNIVIE’s law school’s dean for students, Christian Koller and learned, inter alia, about his youth activities as a musician in a hardrock(?) metal(?) band called Guanako.
Prospect
#AI in Medicine
Friday, January 12, will be dedicated fully to a conference on #AI, medicine and law.

Last minute registration (also on th espot) are still possible; most likely, this will be neither streamed nor recorded, so you miss it if you don’t show up. Some media coverage on this is already ou, for example on OE1 or in Salzburger Nachrichten.
I will also deal with the AI act in “Punkt eins” - a radio show on Austria’s Public Podcasting Program OE1 on Monday, January 15th from 1-2 pm.

We will have four great sessions next week:
On Monday, January 15th, at 10.00 CET, I will further deepen my knowledge about the historical context of criminal sanctions against media quoting files from criminal investigations (German).
On the same day, at 20.00 CET Dr. Davide Schneeberger will focus on Machine Learning (“AI”) in public administration (German).
On Thursay, January 18th, at 17.00 CET, Prof. Dr. Martin Husovec will share with us his view on the Digital Services Act (English)
And on Friday, January 18th at 18.00 CET we will discuss a very recent decision of Austria’s constitutional court on the seizure of mobile phones in criminal investigations (German).
On Tuesday evening I will be in the audience of a presentation on the recent Consitutional Court’s decision on the steering bodies of Austria’s Btoadcaster ORF at the University of economics:

No photo from Daisy this week (she is fine), but from some (probably nameless) whales. In reality, you can hear them breathe when getting this close (which you should do whenever you can).

Have a wonderful week!
All the best
