Content Week 43/2023
Hope to see you!

Retrospect
This was a week with lots of presentations and panels and conferences. In particular:
#arsboni
I had two very impressive interviews with experts deconstructing the official story justifying the current (nonexisting) Covid legislation.
Golda was in particular referring to her open letter to the Austrian Doctors’ Chamber (“Ärztekammer”) asking for more education and caution in Covid-related matters.
On Thursday I interviewed Prof. Kathryn Hoffmann.
This was - technically - a premiere for me as I did this in her department and had all equipment with me. As I am doing #arsboni as a one-man-show that was quite challenging. I learned (again) that Panasonic has a rather bad reputation for their autofocus with a reason and that it’s really important to properly adjust the input levels of both microphones (and that a treated room like my laundry does make a difference). Anyway, the content is really, really great and worth being listed; and #arsboni is an ongoing attempt to fail better (all errors are mine, of course).
I also did an edition on influencer marketing.
Motivation here was that I had come across channels like Sashka doing (some kind of) rather simplified ethico-legal guidance on what influencers are or are not supposed to do - with > 700k subscribers and completly ignored by the “official” legal system. The law is failing quite significantly here, as I learned again, as well as Courts not having sufficient expertise on the technicalities of the phenomenon (at least in my judgement).
Presse Rechtspanorama
I met Anna Thalhammer, Richard Soyer and others on a panel about PR and Criminal Procedure (“Strafprozesse zwischen Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und Unschuldsvermutung”) chaired by Benedikt Kommenda and coorganised by Prof. Dr. Friedrich Rüffler on Monday. The elephant in the room was of course the upcoming trial against former chancelor Sebastian Kurz. I assume that a report on the event will be published in “Die Presse” soon. I made some critical remarks on §353d German Criminal Code and current debates on whether this law was consitutional at all - this case reporting on the “Last Generation” is worth being studied in more detail.
Whistleblower Protection
The new law on whistleblower protection was intensely debated on Tuesday. The event was coorganised and chaired by Dr. Žiga Škorjanc

and had experts from all relevant domains on the panel.

Security Conference
At Universiy for Continuing Education Krems I gave a keynote for the 21. Security Conference on work, security and law

and was very impressed by their shared office infrastructure allowing me to simultanously present (remotely) at a conference in Berlin about PLUTO, the Public Value Assessment Tool developed by a group around Prof. Dr. Barbara Prainsack.

Crypto and Sustainability
was the topic of the 4th Cryptotday at University of Vienna. Sustainability was the motto and I had the privilege to chair the afternoon session with Martin Miernicki and others presenting.

This week’s newsletter header photo shows the view from the meeting venue - Rossauer Kaserne.

Prospect
#arsboni
We will find a winner for Žiga Škorjanc’ book in a live drawing tomorrow at 15.30.
On Tuesday, October 24, at 16.00 we will talk about a very substantial problem - civil disobedience in times of climate change and the last generation.
The book we will discuss in some detail is freely available in full text.
Have a wonderful week! I will go for a run or a hike with Daisy on the 26th of October which is a public holiday in Austria - just like last Sunday.

Kind regards
Nikolaus (Forgó)
